Three-way tie. I was thinking about asking for a tiebreaker, but I decided to just do them all. This one will go beyond Seattle a bit more, because there are some wonderful animal attractions in the greater Seattle area that I have to include.
( Creature Attractions )
( Museums )
( and a bit about Music )
And I've probably missed a number of things, but I think that's a good starting place for now, don't you?

So, I watched Camelot as played at Lincoln Center on Thursday, and it's buzzing around in my head now. Honestly? I wasn't overly impressed by most of the cast, and I was personally offended by the fact that my favorite character was played by someone I can't stand, but that's just me. There was one specific stand-out--Mordred.
I should say here, that I never saw the play version, just the movie. And so I don't know how much was part of the original Broadway version, and which was changes for a modern audience or to fit the stage. But it does mean I'd never heard The Seven Deadly Virtues, because it's not in the movie. Rab has decided that it's part of his soundtrack. It's strange how many of his songs are bouncy and upbeat if...creepy.
But back to Mordred...the costume they had for him was just great fun, and the actor who did him was definitely a joy to watch. I've only managed to find a few pictures of him in the play, both with Fran Drescher. Picture one and Picture two. I seriously wish I could find more, because while the outfit was outlandish, I do think it would be the coolest thing ever to use them for a PB. Not that I have any clue who the PB would be used for... :P

Long story short: if you like Comic Book movies, this one is a must-see. Funny and fascinating in turns, and Robert Downy Jr is at his best. A great action film without being too horribly preachy.
And now for the spoilery bits. ( Spoilers behind the cut, and potentially in comments )
All in all, I loved it. Will definitely be buying this one. :D
ETA: Don't leave until the credits are over!
Preview reactions, while I'm at it: ( Possibly spoilery comments for several upcoming summer flicks )

But I have an excuse! I just got back from vacation! :D
Name five songs (or whole playlists, if you want to get ambitious) that you associate with particular fictional characters.
So...I was listening to my player at work while I made this list, and some are better than others, and some charries have more than others, obviously...
Rabastan: 1. I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters "I can't decide/whether you should live or die/Oh, you'll probably go to heaven/Please don't hang your head and cry/No wonder why/My heart feels dead inside/Its cold and hard and petrified..." 2. Sympathy for the Devil by GnR or by the Rolling Stones "Please allow me to introduce myself/I'm a man of wealth and taste/I've been around for a long, long year/Stole many a man's soul and faith."
Severus: 1. Solitaire by the Carpenters (though if you can find the If I Were a Carpenter version, I like that one much better...) "There was a man, a lonely man/Who lost his love through his indifference/A heart that cared, that went unshared/Until it died in his silence" 2. This Boy by the Beatles "That boy/Took my love away/He'll regret it someday...."
Draco: 1. Tears of the Dragon by Bruce Dickinson "Where I was, I had wings that couldnt fly/Where I was, I had tears I couldnt cry/My emotions frozen in an icy lake/I couldnt feel them until the ice began to break" 2. Bring Me To Life by Evanescence " How can you see into my eyes,/Like open doors?/Leading you down into my core,/Where I've become so numb./Without a soul." 3. Going Under by Evanescence "Don't want your hand this time/I'll save myself"
Remus: 1. Down by Suede (no video, sorry) "Theres a sadness in your eyes, theres a blankness in your smile," 2. Fear by Sarah McLachlan "But I fear/I have nothing to give/I have so much to lose/Here in this lonely place/Tangled up in our embrace/Theres nothing Id like/Better than to fall/But I fear I have nothing to give"
Sirius: 1. Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy by Queen "Ooh love ooh lover boy/Whatre you doing tonight hey boy?/Everythings all right just hold on tight/Thats because Im a good old fashioned lover boy" 2, They by Jem " Who made up all the rules/We follow them like fools/Believe them to be true/Don't care to think them through" 3. Under the Scottsman's Kilt - this one's not so much a song that *is* Sirius, but one that I think he would have loved to death. No lyrics on this one because of it, but feel free to look it up if you'd like.
That enough? :D

Let's see...probably one more story to come this year, so I'll wait to do the Fic year in review. Probably Tuesday while I watch all of the Lord of the Rings for the New Year.
No other takers for my Music poll? I know it might seem a bit daunting, but really, just go with your gut instinct. The more choices we have later, the better. :)
Commenting. Link to kabal42's post yesterday, and to mine from several months back. I think it's time to get that meme going again, and I think I also want to post a new New Year's meme, though of a different sort than last year. I only hope it's as successful as that one was.
founders_legacy officially starts Tuesday. Daunting, but exciting. Starting with a bang, too... The Halloween feast in Harry's Fourth Year. :D Should be fun.
As for Ms doesn't know when to stop, Yes, I saw the new stuff about the next gen. I'm actually of two minds about it, as I am with all the stuff in DH, really. I always know when i've gone fannish nuts because I start writing lists. I have a program, Family Tree Maker, and couldn't resist putting them all into a slightly more visual format. So, here for download is all the major families that have more than two members that are connected easily. If people have the program, I'd also be willing to upload the base file. This one is in PDF format so that anyone with Acrobat can read it. Any additions (canon only, please) are more than welcome. :)
Christmas went better than expected. And the last of everything has been done now, so all that's left is my grandmother's birthday tonight (THAT side of the family, unfortunately...) and New Years, which should be nice and quiet. :) Hubby bought me a DS, so I've been playing with that a lot. I'm quite enjoying that. :D Particularly a game called "My Word Coach," which apparently also has French and Spanish versions. If they ever do a Welsh one, I'm so there... :D
Still have some writing to do, of course. Bonking Tonks is due the 9th, and I haven't started on that or my D_D for next month. Still, I have ideas, so hopefully I should be able to do them this week...
Oh, yes. And I am now permanently Insane. :D Got my permanent account yesterday or the day before...can't recall for sure. But it feels nice. :) Even with the issues here, I have confidence that this will be a much more comfortable long-term home for my fandom life.

So...I've been thinking about music and the songs we tend to label as decade-defining songs. And it's easy to pick out what I think are, but the truth is, there are so many sub-groups, it's hard to know what really does. So I had an idea. Why not see what my flist thought?
So, I have a poll in two parts. I will close this probably on the fourth, and post a follow-up poll using the entries I get for this one. Feel free to link people to this. The more, the merrier.
Some guidelines:
- The song needs to have been on the charts for the decade it's being nominated for for at least one week. Doesn't have to have been at the top of the charts, but it needs to have an actual presence in the decade.
- Needs to make a statement about that decade (IE, Smells Like Teen Spirit, War, etc.). You don't need to justify them to me, but these shouldn't be bublegum pop, either.
- Stands the test of time--a sound-byte into that decade.
Oh...and if you can't think of a song for a decade, you don't have to put it in. I just wanted to be all-inclusive. :) If anyone wants a site for reference, I found this one to have a great list: The Vinyl Surrender Decade Music Chart Selector. Also, please include both song and artist when you post. Have at it! :D Poll #747 Decade-defining songs
Open to: All, results viewable to: AllWhat do you think is the rock song that most defines the spirit of the 50s? What do you think is the rock song that most defines the spirit of the 60s? What do you think is the rock song that most defines the spirit of the 70s? What do you think is the rock song that most defines the spirit of the 80s? What do you think is the rock song that most defines the spirit of the 90s? What do you think is the rock song that most defines the spirit of the 2000s?

List seven songs you are into right now. No matter what the genre, whether they have words, or even if they're any good, but they must be songs you're really enjoying now. Post these instructions in your LiveJournal along with your seven songs. Then tag seven other people to see what they're listening to. (I don't tag. If you want to do it, feel free.)
- Strange and Beautiful - Aqualung
- I'm Gonna See Serenity - Dan Sehane (Absolutely fun if you haven't heard it.)
- Sway - Bic Runga
- The Reason - Hoobastank
- Bitch - Meredith Brooks
- Under Pressure - David Bowie & Queen
- Blue Jay Way - Beatles
Um... I dunno. I guess those work. I don't listen to the radio, really. And when I do, it's the oldies station.

I'm still catching up on my flist from being gone all day... Not good.
I will be writing tonight. Hoping for at least 1000 words, if not 2000. I've decided that I'm not going to do more than minor rewriting (slight change of words or sentances that feel awkward) unitl November (and hopefully the fic) is over. But PLEASE, if there's something that bugs you, do shout out. I'm a very sloppy writer, and I need someone to slap my hand and tell me I'm being sloppy. Can I help it if I want my boys in love? ;) And in other Nano news, I came up with a few songs for the fic at work. If anyone's interested...

And...To make my day totally squeeful, hill_ just posted pics she made for my story, Snapshots. They're here if you want to see them. :) The picture of Draco and the snitch.... *glee*

Look at your LJ "interests" list. If you have less than 50 interests, pick every fifth one. If you have between fifty and seventy-five interests, pick every seventh one. If you have over seventy-five interests, pick every tenth one. If you have fewer than ten, pick all of 'em. List them on your LJ, and tell everyone exactly what it is about these things that interests you so much.

Okay, I've seen this all over the place. Or maybe it was a similar one...
Go to http://www.musicoutfitters.com/
In the search box in the upper left hand corner of the sidebar, enter the year you graduated from high school. The first item returned should be the top 100 songs from that year. Cut and paste them into your journal. Bold (or mark with an asterisk) the ones you liked.
( The songs )
You know, more of those annoy me more than anything else... That can't be a good thing....

I've stopped watching award shows, but I'm pleased that I still watching the Tonys at least. Last year at this time, I discovered the lovely Avenue Q, which has kept me laughing all year. Unlike the other award shows, this one still has the tendancy to keep me interested and not annoyed.
This year, it was not so much a play that got my attention, as a piece done in memory of the theatre people who passed this year. Jessie Martin, aka Eddie Green from Law and Order, did Razzle Dazzle from Chicago. I started bawling. For those who don't watch Law and Order, Jerry Orbach was a long-time actor on the show, but before that, one of his better-known Broadway shows was Chicago, where he played the role of Billy Flinn. There were always tales from the set of how Jessie and Jerry would sing together, and I couldn't help but be touched watching Jessie sing in Jerry's honor tonight.
It's nice to be able to see things that I won't see for many years yet, and make plans for what I will go to when it comes to town. I hope the Tonys never stop being played. :)

Gacked from florahart
Here are the rules
--Pick a song everyone knows. --Take the lyrics to babelfish (http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr) and translate English to German to French to English. --Copy out the result and give clues and see who can guess the song
Clues: 1. Used in an animated movie of the same name as the song. 2. Older than me. (I was born in the late sixties) 3. Sung by a person in the group who rarely sang more than one song an album.
A man, that with the sea segelte and it lived us in the city, in which I had been born, explained its life in the country of Unterseeboote. Thus segelten us to the sun, until we find the sea of Gruens and us under the waves in our yellow Unterseeboot let us live. All we live yellow Unterseeboot, Unterseeboot yellow in our yellow Unterseeboot, us who saw all in our yellow Unterseeboot, yellow Unterseeboot, yellow Unterseeboot. <input ... > <input ... >

 | You scored as Britpop Kid. Pulp, Oasis and Blur are your heroes, and you love the native sound of mid-nineties Britpop. Union Jacks, floppy foppish hair and truly unsophisticated accents are your trademarks. Turn off 'Different Class' for once in the last decade!

Got Mulan back when it came out last month, but haven't had a chance to watch yet. Well, I refuse to watch the returns tonight. At the very least until the polling places are closed. Which means 7 at the earliest. As it is, I'm horribly nervous. Particularly with all the talk about the election on my flist. So I decided to watch Mulan to distract myself. I'm checking out the extras. My very favorite song from the movie has always been "I'll Make a Man Out of You." Well, they have a version, in Madarin, with Jackie Chan singing it. Oh, it is so perfect... :D
That's all. I'm done raving...for the moment.

So, I just discovered a perfect song for one of my fics. Too bad it's too late to go back and add quotes. But then maybe that's a good thing, since I know quotes annoy some people....
If anyone's interested, it's Tears of a Dragon, by Bruce Dickinson, for Dragon's Tears. It works. Eerily well. I listened to Gollum's Song a lot while I wrote that, but this would have been even better.

You are MY FAIR LADY. You are a traditional musical, but you can also be witty and sarcastic, which adds to your enjoyment. You offer a good combination of comedy and meaning, while remaining "proper" at all times.
Your songs include, "I Could Have Danced All Night," "On the Street Where You Live," and "Get Me to the Church on Time."
