Polgara who was one of two great female characters from the Belgariad, the other of whom also begins with a P... Possibly the strongest female in the series, and that includes her mother. Definitely a kick-arse woman who doesn't take no for an answer.
Porenn is the aunt of my all-time favorite character in the Belgariad, Silk. There's a bit of angst going on between them because she married his uncle, but he's madly in love with her. Even though she knows this, she always goes out of her way to make him comfortable.
Phoenix. Whether Jean Grey or her future daughter, Rachel, I was drawn into X-Men because of her. It's not just the power, either. It's like she wasn't fully realized until she became Phoenix. Of course, now we have a good notion why, but even so...she will always be my favorite X-Man.
Peter Pevensie. I actualy quite like the eldest of the Pevansie children. Strong and protective, and I love how he watches after his baby sister, even if he's not quite as good with his little brother.
Peter Parker. Always a favorite Super Hero, and I have to admit, I did identify with him...

Actually considering doing a holiday fest this year--![[info]](http://www.insanejournal.com/img/community.gif) snapelyholidays. Even HD_Holidays didn't tempt me as much the first year... Danged if I know why.

Meh. So...I made the mistake of waiting to upgrade to Firefox three until I was sure all my extensions worked. Seems like the smart thing, right? Wrong. I waited just long enough for them to already add on a digit. So on one computer, I have firefox 3.0, which works just fine with all my extensions. On the other? The one I use for most of my online play? 3.0.1. Which is incompatible at the moment with the latest version of Deepest Sender, which is what I use to post almost all my entries on lj and ij. I'm feeling quite distinctly lost without it, and I am not a happy camper.
I'd started on the info from the meme, and closed it, thinking DS would save the information I'd written, but it didn't. And it won't let me post to any journal but my own, as the usual drop-down is not working. And LJ-cut tags don't seem to be working as well. I'm sure he'll upgrade it soon enough. I'm not the only one having the issue, but obviously I should have downloaded it before this weekend, and I'd have been just fine.
Anyway...review of Dark Knight still to come. And meme babble. And I'm working on my HP Creatures fic. As well as thinking about my D_D, though I haven't written a word. But it will be very very shmoopy.

Much to do today.
Managed about 2000 words of my Creature fic now. I haven't gotten much past the prologue, but I'm getting there. And I'm pretty happy with what I have. Haven't even thought about next month's D_D, yet, though.
Saw Batman last night. And I still need to do my review of Hellboy, too. And tomorrow, Mamma Mia.
Still have empty spots in my Alphabet meme, and I won't start writing the responses until they're all filled, so please help me fill them? *puppydog eyes*
Prophet stuff, and Harry's birthday (early, since it's the middle of the week)...
And I'm watching a friend's cat, so I have to remember to do that, too.
But consider this warning--I will be spamming today. At least two posts. Possibly more.

1. It begins with a list of all 26 letters of the alphabet.
2. Comment with something for me to talk about that starts with one of those letters. Make me babble about anything -- TV shows, actors, actresses, food, discover what I really think about stuff! (This means you comment here with a letter, and a topic that starts with that letter. Then I have to respond to it somehow. With my opinion, or nonsensical babbling. Or something.)
3. One topic per letter -- it's like a claims list! I will add topics to the letters as they appear. (Which means, if you choose "T", don't give me seventeen things that start with "T". Give me ONE.)

- There are 14 years between when I started my AA and when I finished my BA, because I took a ten-year break.
- I am the oldest grandchild on both sides of my family.
- I worked for one of the top ten companies in the Northwest for 3 years as a temp, but I would never accept a real job offer from them.
- I met my husband in ninth grade, but we didn't start dating until the last week of our senior year. We've been married for more than 15 years.
- My favorite color is purple.
- I am a tab fiend. I have several extentions for firefox that have to do with tabs, and at any one time, I have multiple rows of tabs open in my browser, several of which I never close.
- I have lived in Seattle all my life, and I can't imagine ever living anywhere else.

Because I want to make a certain someone melt allllll over the place. :D She knows who she is. (and because he's still a loud SOB, even when I threaten him with death.)
1. Choose a Harry Potter character. (It doesn't have to be your favorite character)
2. Try to think of how many different versions, personalities of this character, going by how they look like. (For example, a rock star, a sports star...)

I'm going with thepinkrabbit's version of this one... She just did Draco at different ages.

God, I haven't dont this in so long...
Name five minor characters whose lives and histories you'd like to see explored more (in canon or fanfic).
Course, that depends what you mean by minor, but... Here goes:
Blaise Zabini. I know, you're all shocked, right? But seriously. Tell us his mother is basically a black widow, and leave it at that? I don't think so!
Regulus Black. So underused. We should have seen more about the brothers' interaction. And more from Sirius about Reg in general. And much much more about Reg's fate.
Padma Patil (I'd say her and her sister, but Parvati in the books always annoyed me). I'd love to know what makes her different from Parvati, and what their home life was like.
Susan Bones. Never ever got enough screen-time, as it were. I often wondered if she was sort of a female version of Neville before Book 5...
Kingsley Shacklebolt. Hot black man? Shall I count the ways this man is underused in canon? No? I know I have at least a few people on my list who agree with me... :D
I'd say all of those are well minor enough. Wouldn't you? :D

Yes, I know everyone is already either doing this or sick of it, but I had a different idea of how to use this meme. I've been seeing comments a lot of in the past year or so about how comments and feedback for fic seem to be declining. Fic that might have, at one time, received three pages or more worth of comments now barely even manage one. And since May, this phenomenon has gotten worse. Constant problems with LJ, two conventions, the movie, the book... Most of us are pretty burned out at the moment. And we have good reason to be.
So let's make this simple. You know how great it is to get feedback, right? But we all have a tendency to think that we have nothing to offer, or that we're too busy to leave a note, or we can't think of anything to say, or that everyone has already said it all before us, so we end up not commenting. The truth is, I doubt there are any of us out there who wouldn't like an extra comment or two, even on an older fic, and even if it's just "I love this!"
Minx's idea for the Bring-Back-the- Porn-o-thon was a great start. Go through bbtp_challenge and follow the links and comment, comment, comment. Then, when you're done? It's time to keep the ball rolling. What if we were all to choose a few favorite authors, or stories (three or four or five or however many you want), and comment to each of them? If you can't think of what to say, go read through "Maeg's guide to leaving feedback" essay for ideas.
First: leave these instructions in your journal.
Second: comment on a fic
Third: at the bottom, leave a note: "Pass it on," with a link to the instructions on your journal so that the person can decide if they'd like to participate.
Also, just because you get a "Pass it on" note doesn't mean you have to. This is in no way mandatory. But if you've ever complained about not getting enough (any) feedback, all I ask is that you think about it.
Easy, right? And even if everyone only does three each, and not every person joins in, just imagine how many new comments people will get! Come on, guys. Join me.
