Share time!

Art to look at:
Disney Heroes by David Kawena - quite the mix here, really.  And not just the ones you'd expect.
And the latest Will Turner

And icons made of them.

That Icon Meme again

Did this in October, but I added a bunch

Make a list of all the characters in your icons. (Although you may have more than one icon of a single character, they only go on the list once.) Alphabetize it. Take the first two people on the list; that's your first pairing. Second two people; second pairing. Etc. Then write your reaction to each pairing (or a snippet of a hypothetical fic featuring each pairing).

Decided to go with snippets this time. And I didn't include real people in this list. Just the people I use in RP as the charcter I use them for.

micro-ficlets behind the cut, with lots of HP, a bit of QAF, Firefly, Stargate, Beatles, and many others included, some mention of character death )

Old fandom meme, revived

Need to do this again.  New journal, things have shifted a bit, so time to re-list my fandoms:

Have I gone on long enough? :P

State of the Elf

Let's see...health thing sorta better.

Writing getting done.  Still have two more to finish this month, then I have a thought for a epilogue-kid mini-drabble fest...

Have signed back up at NaNoWriMo's website, and have been looking around there.  My plot for my fic I'll be writing is coming along nicely...

Fall TV opinions )

Tons of movies coming out this fall.  Starting with Across the Universe today...  The previews look so pretty...I can't wait to see it.
Others I'm looking forward to:
Elizabeth the Golden Age (still not 100% sold on this one, but I did love the first, even with the playing with history...) - October 12th
August Rush - November 21st
The Golden Compass - December 7th
Sweeny Todd (has everyone seen the preview, yet?) - December 21st

And, of course, a few videos as well... :D  I've been putting off watching the Pirates movies until I can watch all three at once... :D

Um...that's all I can think of for now, anyway...how is everyone else doing?

Review: Pirates of the Caribbean: at World's End

If you are a fan, go see this movie.  It is the best of the trilogy, hands down.  And I never say that about sequels, so that's saying something.  It is the perfect culmination of everything that's come before.

Just go.

Now...for the spoilery bits...

Spoilers behind the cut )

And whatever you do?  Do not leave before the end of the credits!

But why is all the rum gone!?!?

It is the best of the movies I've seen this summer.  Not hard when it came to X3, though Superman Returns was quite good.  Still, Pirates easily beats them.  I can't wait to own it on DVD, and I definately can't wait for the sequel.  I love Johnny Depp tremendously, and nine times out of ten, his movies are excellent.  I was just hoping this wouldn't be the tenth time.  It's not.  If you loved the first movie, if you loved the characters, the setting, the mysticism, hell, if you love The Secret of Monkey Island, go see this film! (and then go write me Will/Guybrush or Elaine/Elizabeth crossover slash... :D)

Oh, and for those of you who like to, there is an extra scene at the end, so do stay past the credits.

Spoilery stuff here! )

All in all, a great movie, and definately one I will be adding to my collection the moment it's out.  Go see it.

1. What movies are you fannish about?
Too many to count, but I'll list a bunch anyway.
  • Star Wars saga (mostly the original trilogy)
  • Indiana Jones series
  • Terminator
  • Pirates of the Caribbean
  • Moulin Rouge
  • Matrix (the first more than the later two
  • Stargate
I think you get the idea... ;)

2. What upcoming movies do you expect to be fannish about?
  • Serenity
  • Corpse Bride
  • Goblet of Fire
  • King Kong
I'll be seeing others, but those are the ones I'm most excited about.

3. Movie adaptations of your fannish tv shows: good idea or bad idea?
Depends on who's doing the adaptation.  If it's the originals, or those who care deeply for the original, good, if it's studio-run, bad.

4. If they have to make a movie of a fannish tv show, do you want the original actors and premise, or is an updated premise acceptable?
Depends on the show.  Older shows should be an updated premise in general, with cameos of originals if possible.  New shows should have some or all of the original cast members, because if they don't want to do it, that's nto a good sign.

5. Would you rather have a made for tv fannish movie or do you want the big screen?
Depends on the source material.  And who's making it. And the budget.

Icons

Anyone out there any good at making icons who would be interested in making me a few?  I have some ideas, but not the time or software to make them myself.

The first is an Elfquest icon somehow using this picture, and the quote "Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to decieve."  Specifically I'd like the icon focused on her and the hair, if at all possible.

The second is a Dragon-Prince icon using this picture, with the words "My fandom plays with fire"

and the last is an image of Jack Sparrow,  with the quote from the movie, "But why is the rum gone?"

I'd give credit and everything.  I might even be willing to try ficlets, if people wanted as rewards...
