* I will give you a letter.
* Think of 5 fictional characters and post their names and your comments on these characters in your LJ.

[info]kennahijja gave me P.

Polgara who was one of two great female characters from the Belgariad, the other of whom also begins with a P...  Possibly the strongest female in the series, and that includes her mother.  Definitely a kick-arse woman who doesn't take no for an answer.

Porenn is the aunt of my all-time favorite character in the Belgariad, Silk.  There's a bit of angst going on between them because she married his uncle, but he's madly in love with her.  Even though she knows this, she always goes out of her way to make him comfortable.

Phoenix.  Whether Jean Grey or her future daughter, Rachel, I was drawn into X-Men because of her.  It's not just the power, either.  It's like she wasn't fully realized until she became Phoenix.  Of course, now we have a good notion why, but even so...she will always be my favorite X-Man.

Peter Pevensie.  I actualy quite like the eldest of the Pevansie children.  Strong and protective, and I love how he watches after his baby sister, even if he's not quite as good with his little brother.

Peter Parker.  Always a favorite Super Hero, and I have to admit, I did identify with him...

Gah... P sucks!

Movie Review: Iron Man

Long story short: if you like Comic Book movies, this one is a must-see.  Funny and fascinating in turns, and Robert Downy Jr is at his best.  A great action film without being too horribly preachy.

And now for the spoilery bits.
Spoilers behind the cut, and potentially in comments )

All in all, I loved it.  Will definitely be buying this one. :D

ETA: Don't leave until the credits are over!

Preview reactions, while I'm at it:
Possibly spoilery comments for several upcoming summer flicks )

Review: XMen 3: the Last Stand

Well, now that I've had several hours to digest it, I can't say that I was very impressed.  There were good things, and there were things that really ticked me off, but it wasn't as bad as say, Men in Black 2.  It just wasn't good.  If you're a fan of the series, leave it at two, and save yourself the annoyance.

Spoilery bit here )

This week's <lj comm

Name your five favorite superhero movies.

The best )

And while I have your attention?  How about the worst?

The worst )

And a movie that SHOULD be made... (feel free to comment about others, if you wish. :D  I'd love to hear what you'd like to see...)
  • Teen Titans - Based on the comic book, NOT the cartoon, which I abhor.  I'd like to see the original Titans, too, not the 80's ones (though I love them as well...): Dick "Robin" Grayson, Donna "Wondergirl" Troy, Wally "Kid Flash" West (later just the Flash...), Aqualad aka Garth, Roy "Speedy" Harper...  The only problem with this is the heroes most of them were sidkicks for (well, Donna wasn't a sidekick so much as a kid sister...) weren't that well known, and Aqualad had such limited powers.

Movie: Fantastic Four

So, went to see the movie with [info]turtle_avenger & [info]wakko last night.  It was lots of fun.  No, it's not the comics. Yes, there are lots of changes.  But Ioan Gryffudd!  And Julian McMahon!  As a bad guy!  If you're not a FF canon nut, I see no reason why you shouldn't enjoy the flick.

Possible spoilers about the movie, don't read unless you're okay with that )

What 5 media (books/movies/tv show) universes would you want to visit if they were, you know, real?

1> Harry Potter. No surprise. I love magic.

2> Star Trek. I wanna see the Enterprise. Either Kirk's, or the Enterprise D. Cause it's sooo cool! :D

3> Elfquest. Such a beautiful, unspoiled world. Pre-KOTBW, though.

4>The Marvel Universe. Cause I wanna go to Xavier's! :D

5> Well, after scouring my brain, I can't come up with a fifth that I HAVE to see, so I guess I'll go for Labyrinth. Cause at least then I could drool over tight-pants David Bowie, right? ;)
