State of the Elf

Yeah...the spoiler shit is really pissing me off. I've already seen it twice, on two different comms...  I think I'll be filtering shortly... *sighs*

Spent yesterday feeling constantly behind, and not getting enough done.  Then I went to my best friend's son's 8th grade graduation.  He's attending the Alternative school I went to from third grade on, and it was rather overwhelming being there again.  It was the same building where my husband and I kissed for the first time, three days before graduation.  And then I remembered that that was twenty years ago.

So now, feeling overly melancholy (though certain people who shall remain unnamed have been utterly sweet), and not sure how to get past it.  Maybe I'll go work on linking more icons.  And finishing editing the basis for next month's D_D.

Update of doom

I just seem to be so distracted these days, I rarely seem to post anything but fic or memes.  So a list of my life of late:

* On Spoilers!  I know I've said it before, but I'll say it again.  I don't want to be spoiled.  Please, please, please!  Put stuff under a cut for those of us who want to actually read the book without prior knowledge?  Thanks.

many many many other things behind the cut, to save my flist from teh ginormous post of doom )

And I think I'll stop there.  And maybe try to post more often? :P  Hope everyone is having a good day.

PSA: Spoilers...again

Said it before, I'll say it again.  I don't like spoilers.  Even very minor ones.  Yes, this includes cover art, which is more speculation than spoiler, but still...

Please, please, PLEASE...if you want to squee, speculate, or whatever, please post under a cut for those of us who aren't ready yet?  It's just simple courtesy.

And this goes for the movie, too.

Thank you.

No spoilers here, please

So, seeing as I have a ton more people on my flist than when GOF came out, I'd just like to make this clear.  I'm a real friendly person.  But I hate being spoiled.

Yes, I mean the movies.  The books, too, but the movies and the books are not the same thing.  Because there are always numerous changes made to the story of the movie, I try to put off seeing the trailer as long as I can.  Even more so because as I was with GOF, I'm pretty sure this movie's going to suck in comparison to the others.  I know lots of people out there loved the movie, but I didn't.  And I know it can only get worse from there.

I also know people love to squee over pre-movie photo-releases, and suchlike.  That's fine.  Just put anything vaguely spoilerish behind a cut, if you would?  I know this is only going to work for about the five minutes it takes for someone to make icons for the new pictures, but even so, I'd really appreciate it.  And I'd like to thank those who have been squeeing over the new pictures for being as conciencious as they have been so far.  It helps.  The worst of it usually comes from the communities, but even so, I wanted to get it out there so everyone knows.  Thanks.

Opinion time! *HBP spoilers*

Stuff about the identity of Snape )

Aug. 23rd, 2005

Okay, I know I must be in the minority here, but there has to be somone out there who feels, as I do, that the books and the movies are not the same things.  Therefore, all spoilers for the movies should be behind cuts, and have spoiler warnings.  Why the heck is that so hard for some people to get?

Yes, I want to see the movie.  Yes, I have hopes for the movie.  Yes, I'm glad they've finally released pictures of Draco.  But I do not want to see it, okay?  And if I do want to see it, I can go find it myself.  God!  And wtf!?  Posting in a community without a cut...aaaagh.

Unlike the first three movies, where I was just excited about the movie going in, I have some serious doubts aobut this movie.  And I know that it's only a matter of time before I won't be able to avoid the trailer any more.  In fact, I may end up seeing it this weekend...  I hope not, but some things are beyond my control.  I'm rather certain, though, that the trailer will only increase my doubts about this movie, and I want the magic to last just a little longer, thanks.  So I would be highly appreciative if people would be a bit more considerate out there in lj-land....

(this isn't directed at anyone on my friends list, but rather at an idiot in a harry/draco comm--I know, I know, what do I expect...--who decided to post a clip of Draco dancing at the ball.  Without a cut.)

Spoilers and other Fan-fic things

Not sure if it's been stated here on my lj much, but I *HATE* spoilers.  I will be doing all my chatting about HBP elswhere for a great long time.  And it will probably take me quite a while before I post any stories in the new canon.  As it is, I'm scurrying to finish as many of my old-canon stories as I can before Friday.  (Two at most, probably)

So, that said.  I thank those on my flist who are trying to be conscientious about all this, and I promise that I will make sure to post major spoiler warnings about anything I do write or rec that is set in the new canon.  Possibly for a lot longer than the end of the month, just because I know there will be plenty of people out there who won't have it yet, for whatever reason, and I don't want them to feel like they can't be on their livejournal any more.

The two stories I've been working on are a short I've been calling Snape's Son, which is post war, and just a little ficlet, if I can finish it.  And the other is my Harry/Draco Veela story.  Yeah, yeah, I know.  Cliche, cliche.  But I'm hoping I've at least made it my own.  I have three more chapters to go, maybe four, so I'm really going to try to have it finished by Friday.  HOWEVER...I need two things.  One is that the story just does NOT want to name itself.  So any suggestions on that end would be most helpful.  And two, I currently have two people who are willing to read it for me, but I'd really like more eyes to check it for me, because it is such a cliche, and everyone has different gripes in the fandom.  It would be nice to have a bunch of different people look at it.  Anyone interested?

ETA: Does the title "Loved Not Wisely" seem too cliche? And would it help if I said it didn't particularly refer to Harry and Draco?
