Yay for
pornish_pixies being back up, but everyone, please don't abandon this as it is. Look, yes, they fixed the main problem. But there's still an underlying one. Interests. This isn't so much about free speech, but the fact that our interests could be used against us by any person who decides to take that interest the wrong way.
Go
here and ask him what the company intends to do about this. This isn't over by a long shot, folks. It's still a problem, and we need to deal with it. We can't just forget
why this happened. Because we all know that Chan and Incest are easy to speak out against, but there are also plenty of other things that many of us write about that have been included on our lists at one time or another. BDSM is illegal in many places. As is gay marriage. Or any sort of m/m sex. Do we really want to go through this again with a different set of interests?
We need to hold LJ and Six Apart accountable for how they react to complaints. It is one thing to complain about a user for valid reasons. Yes, many of the sites taken down were valid. Though I would charge anyone who claims that to be a victory to show me one single arrest that has come from this mess. All it's done is drive the actual criminals deeper under cover. How does that help children? This wasn't about helping anyone but the complainers get a lot of publicity for their cause, and about stirring up those who they disliked.
Don't let them win.
