So...I was listening to my player at work while I made this list, and some are better than others, and some charries have more than others, obviously...

Rabastan:

Harry Potter

• Sirius, Remus and James.  I'd add Peter, but JK totally screwed him over to make sure that no one would ever like him.
• Severus and Lily.  Aaaaaw...  :D
• Harry and Neville, though more movie-canon than book-canon.  I love that Neville actually gets to help him and talk to him in the movies.
• Severus and Lucius, even though it's never explicitly stated.
• Albus and Gellert.  A fascinating idea.  I can't wait to see what the fans do with it. :D

Star Trek

• Geordi and Data.  Not just symbiotic because Geordi was an engineer, but also honestly good friends.  I always loved their jaunts on the holodeck.
• Ben and Dax.  I have a huge soft spot for Dax, and I always loved this.  How it grew from a male/male friendship to a male/female friendship with only one hint of romance the entire time Jadzia was host.
• Tom and Harry.  These two were so fun together...  Little kids on a big ship. :D
• Kathryn and Tuvok.  Everyone needs a Vulcan friend.  To tell them when they're being an idiot
• Kirk and Spock.  Oh, all right, yes.  It's one of the things I hope this new version gets right.  They were each others' support, and I want them to show it, damn it!
  

Others

• Sam and Al, Quantum Leap.  They were really so great together...
• Knight and Schanke, Forever Knight.  Ditto.  I can't express the number of times Schanke's stupid antics and Nick's reaction made me grin.  And yet, they were still always there for each other.
• Buffy and Willow, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.  Only the best of friends can get away with calling each other such horrid things and smile about it while they're doing it.  "Quitter."  "Whiner."  "Bailer."  "Harpy."  "Witch."  "Bad seed..." 
• Cutter and Skywise, Elfquest.  God, I can't believe this wasn't at the top of my list.  These two are so perfect together.  Cutter the brawn and Skywise the brain.  They compliment each other so well...
• Brian and Michael, Queer as Folk.  I know some prefer the romance between them, but if it had ever happened?  It would have destroyed everything between them.  They were never meant to be anything more than friends.  Though they were excellent at that.  They understood each other almost better than anyone else.  And put up with each other more than most of the others in their lives did.

Okay, so I've had this idea for a while, but it's really starting to want to be done lately.  I've talked to a handful of people who all seem quite interested.

Marauder AU –

 
The four Marauders are alive, well, and have families. 

James and Lily married right out of Hogwarts.  They have three children: dark haired, green eyed Harry; red-haired, hazel-eyed Rose; and red haired, green-eyed Edward (also known as Eddie). Lily died shortly after Eddie's birth from complications, and James was forced to raise their children by himself with the help of his friends and their wives.

Though Peter had been tempted by the dark side about the time that Harry was born, during that same time, he came into contact with an old flame, Alice Longbottom, who had just lost her husband in a raid, and was raising her young son alone.  She kept Peter from joining the dark side by showing him that someone trusted him enough to rely upon him, and Peter never looked back.  When the Potters switched secret keepers, Peter, Neville and Alice joined them at Godric’s Hollow, and waited for the war to end.  They now have four other children, all blond and blue-eyed: Beth, Corrine (also known as Cori), Dannis (usually known as Dani), and Peter Frank (known as Pete to separate him from his father).

Dumbledore and the Order of the Phoenix, along with the other two Marauders, went into battle with Voldemort and his Death Eaters, and Dumbledore struck down the Dark Lord.  The Death Eaters scattered, trying to escape to their homes before they were captured.  Remus and Sirius chased one Death Eater all the way to Wiltshire, and to his own Manor, where they did battle with him, killing him in the process of trying to capture him.  Sirius took it upon himself to explain events to his cousin, Narcissa, seeing as he had had a hand in her husband’s death, but it was Remus who comforted her while she mourned.  Soon enough, Remus and Narcissa were inseparable, and it was not long before they were married.  They have since given Draco two younger siblings: Corin, who has his father’s pale brown curls and his mother’s blue eyes; and Diantha, who looks to grow up to look exactly like her mother.

Sirius, upon realizing he was the last unmarried Marauder, decided to propose to his current girlfriend, Hestia Jones.  Unfortunately, after the birth of their second son, Sirius realized that marriage just wasn’t for him, and they divorced.  Their sons, both with black hair and grey eyes, are Morgan and Owen.


Now, Harry, Draco and Neville are off to start their first year at Hogwarts, already having dubbed themselves the Marauders Mark 2, or MM2 for short.  But something thought dead is stirring, and there is still darkness waiting to destroy their happy world.  Is Voldemort truly dead?  And Dumbledore and those of the Order who know of the Prophesy cannot help but wonder which of the two boys will be the one marked to destroy Voldemort forever?



So, Draco's absolutely taken, and I have somone interested in Neville.  Anyone else want to pipe up?  I'd love to hear thoughts on it.  Or just squees if you'd like to participate.  It'd be over at GJ, so the Journal would be free.  I already have a bunch of different lists for it, if people are interested in character lists.  And I refuse to start until I have the seven main characters: Harry, Draco, Neville, and the four Marauders.  Oh, and would anyone be interested in helping to Mod?  Cause there's no way I'd be able to do this alone...

I have to agree.  It's a very Sirius thing, really.  Maybe not quite his wording, but definately true of him, too.  With Remus or possibly James as the one chiding him for it.  What does everyone else think?

So, I've been reading so many Sirius/Remus fics in the past month that I've come to a realization.  As much as I like Sirius, I can only read him in sweet, happy love stories so much.  It simply wears on my nerves after about the fifth or sixth one.  I'd much rather see Sirius using his brain to try to get out of things.  I'd rather see him with someone who challenges him.

Now, this isn't to say I hate Remus/Sirius.  I simply prefer him with Severus, or Lucius, or god forbid, even Voldemort, if done well.  I want to see him with someone who won't take him at his word, who will challenge him at every turn, even if it drives him nuts.

And even then, I think I just reach an upper limit of how much Sirius-fic I'm willing to read.  So I guess I'll be cutting back on how many Sirius fics I'll be reading the next few weeks, I think, as my Sirius limit seems to have been reached.
