Photospam: Mah Bichez

I've got a group of characters whom I adore that all fit into a certain mold but which still have a great deal of variation in between, and since female characters never get enough love, I felt the need to share them today, because seeing a photo of one of them just made me grin, almost manically.

I call them "mah bichez" affectionately, of course.  Every single one of them has a dark edge to them, and most are the "bad guys" in their universe, or at least one.

Of course, those are just the ones who came to mind today, and definitely the ones at the top of my list.  Who would you add?

Name five times that a character you like did something wrong.

(snort.  This'll be easy, considering two out of my top three are Slytherins...)

Draco -
  • Stealing Neville's rememberall
  • Mocking a teacher (Lupin)
  • Foreknowledge of an unregistered animagus (Rita Skeeter)
  • spoilers for book 6 )
Snape -
  • Accepting the Dark Mark
  • Using Professorial power to abuse students
  • Taunting a colleague
  • Encouraging students to pick on other students
  • spoiler for book 6 )
Remus -
  • Standing by and doing nothing while his friends abused and teased other students
  • Helped his friends become illegal animagi
  • Left the Shrieking Shack as a werewolf
  • Neglected to tell Dumbledore about Sirius's animagus form
  • Purposefully made a joke at the expense of a fellow professor
Non HP -
  • Han Solo - Smuggling
  • Willow (BTVS) - Murder
  • Jean Gray (XMen) - tried to destroy the universe
  • Diana (V) - Ate people. :P  Seriously.  Everything she did was wrong. :D
  • Drucilla (BTVS) - Ate people. heh.  Tru nuff. ;D

What are your five favorite villains (and why)?

  1. Draco Malfoy - There's just something enticing about a villain that has the possibility of redemption.
  2. Lucius Malfoy - Because, even irredeemable, he's powerful, blond, and hell, because he's played by Jason Isaacs.
  3. Severus Snape - Okay, not really technically a villain per se, but he doesn't get along with Harry, so he's not a "good guy" either.  He's just so complex.
  4. Bellatrix Lestrange - I don't write her much, or even read her enough.  But I do find her fascinating.  She's a woman in a world where she's surrounded by men, and she's obviously got more power than the men in her family (look at the description of her husband and brother-in-law in GOF).  We've only heard of two women DEs so far, I believe, and that makes her pretty unique.
  5. Narcissa Malfoy - Only vaguely counts as a villain, but she's against Harry, so there you go.  One would think, with her name, her major concern would be saving her own arse, but she honestly seems to care for her son and for her husband, and you have to admire that.
  1. Diana from V.  She was just a little self-absorbed, honestly! :D  She was always fun to watch, because even though she thought she was slick and in charge, someone always managed to see through whatever scheme she was up to.
  2. Winnowill from Elfquest. Evil with a capital EV. :P  I love her look: tall and slender, pale skin and hair longer than she is tall.  I love her confidence, even if she's actually internally as mad as Bellatrix Lestrange is, because she never allows her weakness to show, even as madness.  And Power, Power, Power.
  3. Miss Parker from the Pretender.  Another who had the possibility of redemption.  I loved her snootyness, but also how the memory clips show just how open and trusting she was as a girl.
  4. Ra in Stargate the movie.  Oh, lovely evil.  How can I not enjoy watching Jaye Davidson play an Egyptian god? :D  I can't wait to see who they get to be the villain in the next movie.
  5. Drusilla in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel.  Crazy evil.  And siring your grandsire?  How effing cool is that? :D
See?  I like girls!  Just not...HP ones much.

New realization:

I love bitches, specifically evil bitches.  Winnowill in Elfquest, Diana in V, Miss Parker in Pretender.  And Bella seems to fit the bill.  So why don't I find myself drawn to her at all?  I mean, she's interesting, in an evil, sadistic way.  But I'd rather play with Snape or Draco anyday.  What does that say about me?
