So, still here.  Sorry to those who I haven't been able to talk with.  Way too much going on, trying to get my NaNo written, but I'm getting somewhere.

So about 500 words ahead of target for 50k by November 30th.

Also managed to do Recs, the Prophet, edit my K_K and sent that off to the Mods, and got another 250 done on November's D_D. Not to mention brunch with my folks, and watching the latest episode of Merlin with kabal42.

Overall, a good day, so I'm feeling pretty confident. *crosses fingers*

So, this year, I am planning something different. But I'm so addicted to the automatic feedback I've gotten in the past from my other Nano attempts, that I have decided to create a separate locked journal just for Nano.

I haven't made it yet, because I wanted to gauge the interest.

The story I'm writing this year is Arthurian, and set in modern-day, with Morgana as the main character. Except that she won't be a she, but a he. There will be a slashy romance (it will pretty much be obvious from the get-go, but I'll keep mum for now), and a few sex scenes, though probably not much above an R rating, if that.

This will not be Merlin-verse, but my own take on the characters, but I think those interested in Merlin or Arthurian stories (particularly slashy ones) might enjoy it.

The only two requests I have of those who ask to friend this journal are as follows:
1 - Do not copy and paste or save the story anywhere on the net, even if the place you do so is locked only to you. I intend to try to get this published in the end, and if it is posted anywhere, I won't be able to do so.
2 - I ask that you put your critical hats on. This doesn't mean that you can't say "wow, great chapter," but that if you do see any flaws, you point them out. Particularly when it comes to the overall flow of the story. No, I'm not asking that every comment you make be of that sort, just that you read it with a critical eye to giving feedback, if anything relevant pops up. I certainly don't mind having people there just to read. :)

So...are there people interested? If so, let me know here, and when I've made the journal, I will nudge you with it. :)

So...I have been writing my little heart out. Finished off my Bottom!Draco Fairy Tale fest fic and sent it off with plenty of time to spare. Then I started on my Ownfic, and discovered I had a massive fic on my hands. Managed 10k, then got clobbered with the worst flu I've had since I was a kid. Managed to recover, but my fic got sent in about a week late because of it.

Now I just have to focus on getting ahead on things before the end of October so I can do NaNoWriMo. I don't think I'll manage. I have at least 4 fics to do in the next three weeks. Wish me luck!

A/N: I've finally started to rewrite my Nano from this past November, and here's the first chapter. This world is circa 1700s or 1800s, so definitely not the world of equality for all. Slavery, women as concubines rather than companions, war, famine, injustice... I'm sure there will be a bit of something to offend everyone here, but I hope you will allow yourself to suspend judgment and read anyway. There is a combination of fantasy and more realistic elements in the story, but no magic. I will do my best to post these at regular intervals, though I have a tendency to get side-tracked now and again, so do bear with me.

To welcome my new Merlin friends, I'm going to follow in kabal42's footsteps and do a little intro post about myself and my journal.

My main fandom (at the moment) is Harry Potter, and I know most (if not all) the folks I friended are in the fandom as well, so I thought I'd go into a bit of detail about who I am and what I do there before I move into the other bits about me and my journal.

I read, write, and rec, primarily, though I also RP here and there. Mostly in PSLs, though.

My ships in a bit more detail: I slash overall, though I do have a few het ships I enjoy. My OTPs are: Harry/Draco, Severus/Draco, and Severus/Sirius, and for het, Severus/Lily. Most of my favorite ships tend to be Slytherin-centric. I particularly focus on ships with Draco, Severus, or Remus, though I also have a distinct fondness for Lucius, Regulus, and Blaise.

I don't write as much fic as I used to, and mostly just one piece a month for daily_deviant, though occasionally I do get inspired.

I also participate once yearly in NaNoWriMo, and have only missed one year so far. I will likely be doing an original piece this year, so it won't be posted here in my journal, but I might be gathering a small group together who are interested in reading it. It's a modern-day Arthurian story with a Morgana who has become "Morgan" in this life. Yes, there will be slash elements.

Merlin, however, is really calling to me. I even already have an idea for a (hopefully very smutty) Arthur/Merlin fic. And I do love Morgana, and all of the ideas they've introduced so far. I can't wait to see more.

As for who I am myself?

I live in Seattle, have all my life. Am currently married to my high school sweetheart. We've been married for 16+ years. We have two cats, Morgan and Sebastian. No kids. I'm not a kid person, really. Though I do occasionally babble about my niece.

I got my BA in English Lit, and occasionally contemplate going back to get an MA, except that the cost is daunting. That and the fact that I'm still not entirely sure what I'd do for an MA...

Overall? I watch too much TV, own too many movies, don't read enough any longer, and am highly addicted to my computer.

So that's me in a nutshell. I'm sure there are tons of things I've missed, but it gives you a good overview. :)
