Author's notes: I had to do this story. I’ve wanted to for some time. The problem was managing the smut with Draco in such a bad place. It owes a huge debt to K and his Harry, with whom Draco and I have played with this idea for a long time. Many bits of this story are owed directly to our play together. I only hope that people will give it a chance despite the warning and kink. Thank you to all three of my betas for the help. It wouldn’t have made it without you all.

So...I meant to post this last night, but I never got around to it. Was too distracted.
Nano starts next Saturday, and I still have three stories I need/want to get to before that. It's not going to happen. So my priority this weekend was my Snapely Holiday (which is now finished--yay!) and November's D_D, which is something I've wanted to write for a while now.
So, I really haven't been ignoring people, I swear. I'm just incredibly nuts out of my head busy. And unfortunately, the next month is going to feel much the same. I'm going to shoot for at least 1000 words each weekday, and 3000 to 5000 on weekends. Don't know if I'll manage, but I have to try.
Now off to take a quick break before I start on my D_D.

Meh. So...I made the mistake of waiting to upgrade to Firefox three until I was sure all my extensions worked. Seems like the smart thing, right? Wrong. I waited just long enough for them to already add on a digit. So on one computer, I have firefox 3.0, which works just fine with all my extensions. On the other? The one I use for most of my online play? 3.0.1. Which is incompatible at the moment with the latest version of Deepest Sender, which is what I use to post almost all my entries on lj and ij. I'm feeling quite distinctly lost without it, and I am not a happy camper.
I'd started on the info from the meme, and closed it, thinking DS would save the information I'd written, but it didn't. And it won't let me post to any journal but my own, as the usual drop-down is not working. And LJ-cut tags don't seem to be working as well. I'm sure he'll upgrade it soon enough. I'm not the only one having the issue, but obviously I should have downloaded it before this weekend, and I'd have been just fine.
Anyway...review of Dark Knight still to come. And meme babble. And I'm working on my HP Creatures fic. As well as thinking about my D_D, though I haven't written a word. But it will be very very shmoopy.

Geh. When was the last time I did one of these?
No more online, journal-based RP for me. I left the last one a while back. I miss talking to the folks, but I don't miss the stress. And I will never Mod another RPG again. Now if someone would just stop waving such pretty Yaoi boys at me, I might have a chance... :P
Work is still hell. We did our big meeting thing, and changes are proceeding apace. Some of which actually are helping, though from the current mess, you wouldn't know it. I have a feeling that I'll be getting in more OT real soon. Already did an hour tonight. And I deserve ten million treats for how good I'm being about work. So I bought myself a few fun things, including something someone on my flist suggested: My Gender Workbook. I'm finding it fascinating so far. Haven't gotten far into it, but I definitely like it. Also got another name book, a couple of other books, the Pelican Brief on DVD, and a game for my DS. I'm still trying to decide what else I should get...
D_D... I really loved my idea when it came to me, but I can't concentrate enough lately to write, and what I have sucks utterly. Saturday will be it, I'm afraid. I hate leaving it that late, but I have to go see Hellboy tomorrow if I want to retain my sanity. (see treats comment above.)
Haven't spent our Tax refund. I want to get all new sheets and pillows, and a new bolster for my comforter or two. And an ergonimic keyboard. Not sure what else I need, aside from a maid and storage. :P
Dr Who...An amazing episode, though I know many are upset by it. I won't say much here, but I thought they did a great job, even with the issues so many have with it.
Stargate this weekend! Wooo!
Sister and hubby have finally moved back to Seattle. They moved down to the Bay area for his job shortly before they were married (he works for Google), and he finally managed to convince them he could do the same thing he was doing down there up here. So they've been making the rounds with my niece, who is utterly adorable, and whom I cannot get enough of (and if you know me very well, you know how little I like babies, so that's saying a lot). Shower next weekend. I need to find time to buy things... *sighs*

Been spending an inordinate amount of time at a new site I found: Listal, because it's easier than writing or thinking. You can list movies, books, tv shows, video games, and DVDs that you have, love, or want to see. And you can make lists within each category, and reviews. I'm loving it. Does anyone else have an account there, so I can friend them, and if not, do you want one? I've already done reviews for all seven HP books. And a review each for Contact, Dogma, and Matrix. I'm trying to decide what I should review next. Anyone have any suggestions?
Erm...sure I've forgotten many, many things. But it's a start, right?

* Job is...nuts. They've been getting twice the work I'm able to do in a day. And have no one else doing it. And I'm scrambling to be able to do as much as I am. Plus, I'm not really doing it the way they want to end up having it be done. Someone else does a bunch of lookup and callbacks that I couldn't do yet because I didn't have access to the relevant system yet. So eventually they want to have three of us doing the lookup, callbacks, and entering all at once. Which would slow things down incredibly much. I don't think they're quite cognizant of that just yet. :P
* Have been wibbling back and fort on a reclist of Anj classics. So...the question is, would there be any call for it, or does it seem redundant or silly, and I should just keep my big yap shut?
* Have not been playing in my games at all of late. I suck. Mostly because I can't really at work without feeling like I'm breaking rules, and by the time I get home, I'm wiped.
But I have been able to rp a bit through email and a few private rps...
Harry and Draco have been together since September of 2006, and got married in 2007 (realtime). One private ceremony with just very immediate family (Lucius, Severus, Sirius and Remus) in the Netherlands where it was legal for males at the time (the rp took place in 2002 at the time, I think), and one public ceremony several months later in the summer that was just for show. And now that we've moved them to "today," Harry's asked him again, now that it's legal for men to be able to marry each other in England. So he's been working on that.
And my Blaise has finally gained a Theo. We set it up that they were together in school a bit and then separated by the war. And now they're engaged to be married. My Blaise is very much of the "love doesn't exist" mindset because of his mother, but his friends and lovers have convinced him otherwise, and so now he's shocked, but very happy. It's odd, but sweet.
* Writing - finished my HP Vamp fic, but for the editing, which will begin this weekend. Need to start my D_D, and have ideas for another fic as well that wants to push the D_D right out of the way. And if I finish all that, I might claim another prompt at HP Vamp. Oh, and I have drabbles to do, too. :) And I have this amazing fic idea that I *have* to find the time to do, too.
* Also…have been having an idea that I’d like to do one of those “commentary tracks” for one of my fics. Anyone have any preferences for which? I might do a poll at some point.

* Politics - I'm starting to get annoyed with both candidates. I was so thrilled when they both ended up as frontrunners, because I thought it meant we could avoid the “vote for me because I’m a …” argument. Why they couldn’t just run on the issues… Well, I suppose I know: they’re too close in most beliefs, so they need better ways to separate themselves.
* Have been considering switching my default icon to something different. Not sure to what yet, though.

Author's notes: Shockingly, another Blaise-piece. Quite different from the last one. Set in the same universe as The Tale of the Golden Prince (as can be inferred from the title). I have a few more ideas for stories in this universe, all one-shots. We’ll see if they ever get written. Can be assumed to be EWE, but the first story was written before DH came out. Huge thanks to both ceria and kabal42 for their help with this story.
*warning of a different sort* This fic depicts a M/s relationship, but it is not one I in any way consider a healthy relationship. Not only was Blaise too young to understand what it was he was getting himself into when Lucius first seduced him, but there is almost no give and take in this relationship. I would even go so far as to say it’s abusive. He did consent, yes, and he expects to play, and enjoys playing, so it is not the BDSM so much as Lucius’s actions that make it abusive. I just wanted that clear.

Soo... many things. Again.
* Grandmother moving this weekend. Didn't actually do anything cause I have no car, and so have no way of transporting her, just realizing that she's much further away from me now. Moved across the water to Bel-Red Road over in the East side, if you know where that is.
* Job front - Meant to announce this before, but with job stuff and the Cup fic which I've been struggling to do, I haven't had the time. I am now a real employee at the place I've been working on and off since July. about two months there, then a couple not, then back in late November, I think it was. And I've been there ever since. It's a bit odd. I hadn't realized how long it had been since I'd had a "real" job. I quit my last back in 95 to go back to college. Just kind of wierd. But it's good, so far. We'll see how stressed I get.
* Writing -
Cup fic is done, and in the editing process. Lots of helpful people, so I'm very excited. Could well be my best fic ever. Okay, maybe not, but I'm very fond of the bunny, even now, and saying that after having finished it? Not usually the case, so I'm feeling good about it.
D_D for this month has been started. Starring Blaise again, shockingly enough. Usually Draco doesn't let anyone else go more than a month at a time, but he's shockingly happy and sated these days. ;)
HP Vamp is having their Free Range fest again, and I have several bunnies I'm thinking of claiming. I just really need to remind myself that I can't. Maybe one or two at the most, and certainly not until I have at least 1000 words done for D_D.
* Cable guy was here today, and after much hassle with finding a modem that would work, we are connected again. All I can do is hope that this will be the end of our random cut-offs when we're trying to load pages or chat with folks.
* Have someone new that's kind of been percolating in my head since JKR made the Post-warts family trees: Lorcan Scamander. I don't know why he specifically is calling to me. Possibly the geeky name. He's pretty different from most of my usual muses. Not sure if anything will come of it, but you never know...
* Posted all my H/D stuff over at Skyhawke now, aside from unpublished. So there's a ton there, now, and the ratings system seems interesting to me. I've stuck most of my drabbles in Ship-related "stories," one chapter per drabble, just to keep from having a hundred teensy little stories on my page, but anything over 500 words has its own story. I'm not so good to sticking to under 500, I've noticed. ;) So...the question is, what ship should I do next?
* A request: Have been reading chaptered stories at work, but it's getting hard to find things I should have read that aren't long-one shots (rather prohibitive with the amount of time I have to read, so anything over 10,000 words as a one-shot is too much.). So... I'd love suggestions. Particularly H/D, or next-gen, though Regulus seems to be popping up in my mind a lot lately. I don't suppose there are any chaptered fics about him?
And how is everyone else out there?

So...this is something I've been meaning to re-do for ages now. But especially since the move to IJ in August.
My number one priority in fandom is, has and always will be, fic. Writing it, and still occasionally recing it. I post the 13th of every month to daily_deviant, and participate in random fests here and there. And, on great occasion, I write something just because it desperately has to get written.
Modding -
I am an editor at potter_prophet, which I contribute to each Sunday.
I mod the asylum blaise_zabini, which accepts all fic, art, icons meta or other entries having to do with the dark-skinned Slytherin.
I also mod hp_nano, which is a gathering place for those in the HP fandom participating in the yearly NaNoWriMo Challenge in November.
RP -
I co-mod the game founders_legacy, where I play Draco and Blaise.
I also RP in a slightly different form at rp_bad_boyz as Rabastan and Blaise.
And there's also still an older Draco in my head who snuggles with K's Harry.
Then there is true_revenge, which foodie and I have been slowly posting all our stories that started with a simple little idea I had about how Lucius might have proposed to Narcissa.
And shadowhunt, which is the beginning of a pseudo-rp surrounding an idea foodie had where Hestia Jones starts up a bounty-hunting agency after the war.
Then there's something that's not strictly fannish, but which I haven't mentioned in my journal until now--writing_linkz. It's nowhere near complete, and probably never will be. It's invite-only to join, but anyone is free to watch. Mostly, it's a place where I stash links that I think will be helpful in my writing.

Daily Deviant fic done. Haven't even thought about next month's, but I'm totally focusing on HD Cup fic for now. Don't even have 1000 words yet, but I will beat the two of them (okay, Draco) into submission if its the last thing I do. :P
Saw Across the Universe. Hubby bought it before we'd seen it, which isn't something we do often, but we'd both wanted to see it. I'm a huge Beatles fan, and so I was very excited to see what they'd done. It's amazing. If you like them, or the period, find a copy and watch. There are flaws, yes, and it's definitely not for everyone, but it is very well-done.
Rab has been very loud of late. I'd say unnacountably, but I know exactly why. His brother and his son. He's just about to pop, and he's drowning out even Draco a lot of the time. It's...creepy. He is not a nice person. At all. And if anyone needs proof I can do dark... Just let me know. I'll post about his little outing in my head last night. :P *shudders*

1. Just spent four days with my sister down in Northern California. Plane trip down was a bit odd--got the wrong tickets. I usually go to San Jose instead of San Fran, but we weren't paying enough attention so I went to SF. Except that they were having weather issues that day, and so we were delayed for quite a while, and then eventually re-routed to Oakland. It was interesting. But the trip itself was nice. Not someone who tends to go out and do lots of things, but we actually had a very eventful visit. We went to the San Fran Genealogy library and spent several hours there, though we found nothing either for our family or her husband's family. We did find interesting trees that connected to his online, though. All sorts of interesting tidbits. Watched all of the first season of Project Runway, which I hadn't seen. It was interesting to see how it evolved throughout that first season. Did a bit of shopping, played video games--DS and Wii, and even a bit of PS3, and yesterday we went to see 27 Dresses. I quite liked it, actually. And we saw two interesting previews that I'm interested to see: Miss Pettigrew's Day Out, and The Accidental Husband. They both look intriguingly different.
2. Wrote another Malcest fic for pornish_pixies's Magical Device challenge. Will be posting it here tomorrow, I think.
2b. On a related note...I've been invited to join pornish_pixies, so you will be seeing more of that sort from me, I think. :D
3. Other writing: Starting over from scratch on my daily_deviant fic, but I think it will be better for it. And I have a bunny for my hd_cup fic, so as soon as the one is finished, I'll be starting the second. I'm hoping to get that done before the end of the month so that I can start the next D_D fic before the 1st.
4. Still haven't done my review of Sweeney Todd. I did enjoy it. Wasn't everything it could be, but I did enjoy Johnny Depp. I think it's another example of just how versitile he is.
5. Job stuff--might be getting a permanent job soon. More on that if it happens. :)
6. Caught up on flists for the night, but not on reading things I've tabbed from the list, so if you have something you'd like me to comment on/read/etc, feel free to link me here, and I'll get back to it tomorrow.
