Fic: How to Get Through Public Speeches - Harry/Teddy, NC-17

So [info]daily_deviant's birthday is over now, and I can reveal the fic I wrote for [info]writcraft.

My own gift, She Was a Showgirl, was drawn by [info]nearlyconscious, and is very delightful. You should definitely go check it out.

For those who haven't gotten a chance to read my fic, here it is:

Title: How to Get Through Public Speeches
Characters/Pairings: Harry/Teddy
Rating: NC-17
Kinks/Themes Included: Toys in public places, sex in public places
Other Warnings/Content: Age difference
Word Count: ~2400
Summary/Description: Harry gives his first speech as head of the MLE, with a little distraction to get him through the speech
Author's Notes: I hope you enjoy this, recipient. I did have fun coming up with this idea, though these two fought me. I eventually found something that seems to have worked, though. For the record, these two are now an established couple in the wizarding world. I purposefully left off mention of Ginny and the kids. Make of that what you will. Thank you to my usual beta for the help in editing, and also for the title idea.

There are only two types of speakers in the world. 1. The nervous and 2. Liars. – Mark Twain )

A Snippet of Seven Years of Entries

Since this year marks my seventh year on journals (started at LJ, came here in 2008), I thought I'd do one entry from each year I've been here, and do commentaries on the entries themselves. These entries were just ones that stood out as a way to show my fandom change over the years I've been here. Most have something to do with fic in some way.

And that's it…a small snippet of seven years of fandom life. Not bad. :)

Fic: Forgiveness Not Given - Severus/Draco, NC-17

Title: Forgiveness Not Given
Author: [info]elfflame
Based On/Inspired By: Forgivness by [info]gypsyflame
Characters/Pairings: Severus/Draco, Blaise/Draco & Lucius/Draco implied
Rating: NC-17
Content/Warnings: Implied incest (from source fic), punishment, cross-gen (teacher/student)
Word Count:~2000
Summary/Description: Snape calls Draco to his office.
Author's Notes: I really wanted to do Snaco, as it had been too long since I'd written them together, and then I read Forgiveness, and I couldn't resist. Unfortunately, the bunny I gave in to wasn't exactly a happy one, but hopefully the two will wake up and realize they deserve to be together. *nods*

…The words were empty, not filled with gratitude and relief as they had always been in the past. He didn’t want his father’s forgiveness anymore. – From Gypsyflame's Forgiveness )

Never Forget

Today marks the 25th Anniversary of one of the worst disasters in NASA history.  There have been others when we have lost several people, and even, ultimately, one where we lost people returning from orbit, but none of them touched us so deeply as that day.  That day, one of us was going into space.  That day, most of us watched as Crista McAuliff waved before getting on board the Challenger.  Teachers everywhere paused their classes so their students could watch.  This was a learning experience.

It turned out to be a very different learning experience than expected.  We learned to be scared.  We learned that Astronauts aren't safe.  That they can't be safe.  We learned that they are as mortal as we.

The nation pulled back after that.  Scared to make the same mistake again.  It took us three years to finally allow a new Shuttle to go up.  I remember sitting between college classes, listening as it did.  I remember crying because I was so relieved that this time, it made it.

We should never forget them.

The Shuttle is to space flight what Lindbergh was to commercial aviation.
— Arthur C. Clarke

Let's face it, space is a risky business. I always considered every launch a barely controlled explosion.
— Aaron Cohen, NASA administrator

This is a day we have managed to avoid for a quarter of a century. We've talked about it before and speculated about it, and it finally has occurred. We hoped we could push this day back forever.
— John Glenn, first American to orbit the Earth, regards the explosion of Space Shuttle Challenger, the New York Times, 29 January 1986

All of a sudden, space isn't friendly. All of a sudden, it's a place where people can die. . . . Many more people are going to die. But we can't explore space if the requirement is that there be no casualties; we can't do anything if the requirement is that there be no casualties.
— Isaac Asimov

We have to stay here and there's a simple reason why. Ask ten different scientists about the environment, population control, genetics and you'll get ten different answers, but there's one thing every scientist on the planet agrees on. Whether it happens in a hundred years or a thousand years or a million years, eventually our Sun will grow cold and go out. When that happens, it won't just take us. It'll take Marilyn Monroe and Lao-Tzu, Einstein, Morobuto, Buddy Holly, Aristophanes .. and all of this .. all of this was for nothing unless we go to the stars.
— Jeffrey Sinclair, Babylon 5

The dream is alive.
— John Young, after landing the first Space Shuttle STS-1 at Edwards Air Force Base, 14 April 1981

RP: Making Up Is Hard to Do - pt 1 - Severus/Remus, PG13)

Title: Making Up Is Hard to Do Part 1
By: [info]snapesgirl (Severus) and [info]elfflame (Remus)
Rating: PG 13 for swearing and a bit of drinking (for now)
Summary: Severus Snape is sent to deliver a missive to Remus Lupin Summer of 1993.
A/N: As soon as the anniversary was mentioned, elfflame thought this would be fun, so she dragged in snapesgirl kicking and screaming (or maybe not so much screaming… ;) ). We'll be doing our best to post a RP session with these two once a month, in a dialogue format. May get slightly crackish at times (Sev can get very unruly when he doesn't get his way, after all… ;) ), but mostly we'll be following Harry's third year, to see where it takes the boys. Hope you all enjoy!

Has it really been 5 years?

So, in the midst of leaving my job this week, I suddenly realized that today is my 5 year LJ anniversary.  So I have two things to celebrate.  I will be posting a few different things, including an Anything Goes post.  It's been too long since I've done that. :D

First things first...I know things are quieter here this year, but I wanted to post my stats--it's my way of seeing how the past year went.

Stats gleaned from both journals to be more accurate:

4 year lj anniversary

So, four years ago today I finally got myself an LJ.  I'd already been watching several communities by that time ([info]pornish_pixies and [info]pervy_werewolf most notably), and so my flist quickly filled up with tons and tons of delicious fic.  The friends appeared much slower.  Some barely acquaintences, some became more.  I've never regretted having a journal.  I've met some great people here.

This past year has been a difficult one.  Wank and anger and loss...  I still haven't finished tagging everything from the move from LJ to IJ, and sometimes I wonder why I bother looking at LJ any longer because it makes me so angry.  I have had the pleasure, though, to participate in some good things over there, even though I no longer actively use that journal.  The HD Cup.  HP Vamp.  I miss people over there, but most of the people I really talk to are over here, anyway.

I've stepped into a few new fandoms in the past year or so.  No fic, but a bit of reading, at the very least.  Queer as Folk, Youka Nitta, and even a bit of Tin Man.  And then there are the old, re-emerging fandoms.  Buffy and Star Trek. So busy.  And so much love. :)

I'm not going to name names here, because you all know who you are, but that meme about "people you met through your journal who make your life better" has been going around, and I just wnat to say that I'm thrilled to have met so many of you.

Stats gleaned from both journals to be more accurate:

  7. Lilydahlia - 34
  8. Lee West - 34
  9. ThePinkRabbit - 28
  10. Turtle Avenger - 25
I think, though, that these numbers might be off.  Or that people really don't comment in my journal. :S

Title: Something Beautiful
Author: [info]elfflame
Characters: Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: cock sucking and power and control, I suppose?
Kinks chosen: Face-fucking (is there a better word for it than that?), and a bit of phallophilia, too.
Word Count: 547
Summary: Draco loves Harry’s cock.
Author's notes: The ficlet I wrote for [info]daily_deviant's birthday celebration.  This was supposed to be about rimming, but somehow Draco got this idea into his head, and wouldn’t let me write anything else.

A birthday to celebrate!

A little over a year ago, I was approached by two of my favorite people, [info]lysa1 and [info]kabale, who asked me to become part of a new community idea they had, which they were calling [info]daily_deviant.  Now a year from the very first post, [info]daily_deviant is celebrating its first birthday.  Go here and here to check out the celebration!

Recs requested by my flist -

Very long Rec list behind the cut )

Last call!

If you would like recs, I've still a spot or two open.  Claim one now before it's too late!  I will be doing my Blaise/Draco list for tomorrow, and starting on [info]lucius_recs for Monday, and then I'll be doing them, so that means I won't be doing them until at least noon.

Come on, you know you need something to read.

[No Subject]

Anniversary recs will be posted in one massive list Saturday night, but I still have up to four spots open for the next two days.  If you'd like to request something, go here to comment on what you'd like to have rec'd.

Second Rec-aversary!

So, time to do my Anniversary recs once more.  Come the 22, I'm going do do my normal recs on Sunday, but I will also be celebrating by taking requests.  Any pairing or character you would like to see, between the 22 and the 28th.  I will make a post on the 22, and you will be able to request what you wish.  Always wanted to read a certain pairing or character but never knew where to start?  Like a certain kink, or a certain cliche?  I've got a ton of recs, and I'll do my best to respond with at least three and at most five recs for whatever you come up with.  But a caveat--there are some pairings, characters and kinks I really don't touch, so I have little or no recs with those pairings.  So, if you would all be so kind as to think of two or three requests, I would be appreciative.

So start those lists, people!  You've got two weeks to think about it. ;D

Two years

I've officially had my journal two years as of tomorrow, sometime about midday, I think. :)  Changes?  A lot more fic.  A ton more friends, way too many new ships to count (headdesk), and now with RPG, too! :D

I don't have a story ready to post like I did last year, but I would like to offer drabbles because it has been so very long since I have done so.  Please keep it HP, as my brain's been cooked by the weather lately, and thinking outside HP would probably make it explode... ;)  There are a few pairings I won't do, but I'm pretty loose.  Just please no Snape/Gryffindor pairings?  Or Ronslash.  Not really my thing.  Maybe you could give me a couple pairings and a prompt to choose from? That way we're more likely to mesh.
stats, if you're curious )

I wanted to do the comment stats as well, but the website appears to be down.  Anyone know what's going on with that?

Fic: The First Time, a Blaise/Hermione fic for <lj user

Title: The First Time
Author: Elfflame
A fic for Millieweasley’s first HP fic Anniversary.
Pairing: Blaise/Hermione
Rating: PG
Warning: mention of character death, torture
A/N: It was Millie's one-year anniversary, so I offered to write her a fic.  She asked for:
*First time Sirius realises his gay and have the hots for Remus
*First time sex Hermione/Percy - plus if one of them (coughPercycough) is a virgin.
    *First kiss Hermione/Blaise
Or something other with firsts. You know my kinks and liked :D
Oh, and apparently I need a Blaise/Hermione Icon.  Anyone wanna make me one?

The first time... )

Today's Anniversary Recs

Forgot to post these earlier...  I still have three spots open for tomorrow, last call!

[info]anavrinny requested fics with Pansy as a non-clingy-idiot.

My Recs:
Beneath You – Cinnamon - R - Harry/Draco, but also Ron/Pansy.  Though she's not portrayed in the best of lights here, she's quite instrumental in helping out at the end.
The Shadow of His Wings – Mirabella - R - Harry/Draco, but also some Draco/Pansy, along with others.  The first H/D fic I've found that actually portrays her in a positive light while still pitting her against Harry.
Platinum and Pearls - The Treacle Tart - R - Severus/Draco as told through Pansy's eyes.

Rec-aversary reminder

So, no new recs today, as I've gone through all of the requests so far, but I want to keep it open all week, particularly given the new people on my flist, so if you want to join in, please, don't be shy!  The post with the rules is here.

Come on, I'm friendly.  Free recs!  All for you! :D
